# Tell Us Once death notification route

Tell Us Once reports a death to most covered government organisations in one
interaction when the person lived in England, Scotland or Wales and the
service's current evidence conditions are met. A registrar may complete the
service or supply the reference used online or by phone.

The observed page expressly excludes a person living in Northern Ireland or
permanently abroad. It also does not notify every private organisation. The
[service role](../organisations/tell-us-once-service.md) and current coverage
must be checked before each use.
